This right here. This right here brings me so much joy.
I don’t care how nerdy or childish it sounds-Star Wars has impacted my life like nothing else really ever has. That’s not to say I have a million little trinkets and toys and the like, because I really don’t. It’s just that, as a kid, when I saw “The Phantom Menace”-there was nothing quite like it. George Lucas had managed to create this whole other, magical world. I soon learned of the original movies, days after seeing the first, and the world expanded even more.
I understand that some have trouble finding some source of solace in the world. For me, movies are the forever-present and endlessly imaginable escape that we all seek every now and then. I could care less if I become the most famous film creator of all time. I just want others to experience what so many movies have done for me. I want to provide that escape-that source of solace.
I don’t think my godfather knew just how much that little trip to see “The Phantom Menace” would mean to me. While he’s no longer here on this earth, I plan to never let him be forgotten amongst every film I am a part of. For he is the reason and instigator of the very dreams I pursue. The smiles you see on the faces of those pictured above-those smiles are what I hope to see reflected on every person that leaves one of my films. I know most won’t read this, but I just sort of needed to get it out there.
